The Music of my Teenage Life
Many of my favourite tracks from the 80s are ones that many may not be familiar with. The reason for this is the many hours spent in my bedroom before I came to terms with being gay. Back then not every household had a TV in every room of the house, and even for those that did, here in the UK we didn't have cable TV and the multitude of channels that it offered. As a result, I found solace in the radio, and the evening shows on Radio One that played music that didn't have the mass market appeal that Duran Duran etc held at the time.
With hindsight, I'm so pleased for that time spent away from the 'real' world, as the soundtrack to my life is, thankfully, littered with some fairly obscure music. I guess that this also helped form my broad appreciation of music in many different styles.
At the end of the day though, I will always be a child of the 80s - which is why most of the music that I post here is from the 80s - but I really hope that you'll give some of the more obscure tracks a listen, as I think you'll appreciate them too.
